The Importance of Human Connection

People vary in how they seek out the company of other people but we all share the fundamental need to interact with others. There is plenty of evidence that shows that positive relationships and shared activities contribute to our wellbeing. Conversely, loneliness and social isolation increase health risks and the negative impact on our mental health.

Learning to Cope

Living with mental illness is not easy. It’s an every day problem without a clear solution. While treatments like medication and psychotherapy are incredibly helpful, sometimes people experiencing mental health issues need to do more day-to-day to feel even just feel okay.
Being creative, taking exercise, meditation and social contact are all helpful and work for many people.
Finding the right coping strategies takes time and patience, but it can enormously impact how you feel.
